 Exciting new store developments in Hertford

The new store will provide much needed new competition and choice for the Hertford community. At Sainsbury's we will deliver an ever improving quality shopping experience for our customers with great products at fair prices.

We will exceed customer expectations for healthy, safe, fresh and tasty food making their lives easier every day. Our new Hertford store will provide our great range of groceries and will feature:

The new store proposals include:

  • A delicatessen counter
  • A fresh meat counter
  • A pizza counter
  • A hot food counter
  • A bakery
  • A fresh fish counter

In addition, the store will provide a limited range of
other goods.

The development of the store will also help to regenerate a key four acre site close to the heart of the town, including the renovation and re-use of the iconic Victorian
brewery building.

The development will also feature a new courtyard for commercial and community use, extensive landscaping and the naturalisation of the riverbank.

Other benefits include:

  • Creation of up to 240 jobs in the store
  • A car park to be used by town centre visitors and Sainsbury's shoppers
  • Customer café featuring a history of the site
  • Secure cycle parking
  • A new footpath/cycle link to the town via a new
    river crossing
